We not only sell electronics, we service them too!
RoTec is locally owned and operated by Bob & Barb Rowan. Our shop is
located in Victoria, BC, CANADA on the southern-most tip of Vancouver Island.
Our mild climate is conducive to any outdoor activity. We have many parks and
trails for hikers, while the boating around the Gulf Islands is spectacular.
With more than half -century of experience, our staff has both the expertise
and knowledge to meet our customers needs and concerns. What started out as a
hobby while a teenager, has become one of Victoria's finest retailers for
over-land and marine electronics. Our technicians, if we may say so, are
exemplary. Bob himself has over 30 years experience in this field. Our sales
staff listen to customers and are not hard sell, preferring to address the
customers' needs.
We are the only company in Victoria that deals with both 2-way mobile systems
(land) and a full line of marine electronics. RoTec also owns three repeater
systems that we rent airtime to local companies so they can keep in radio
contact with their vehicles and employees.
We do business with the Royal Canadian Navy, RCMP, Provincial Government
and many local municipalities.
We designed/built radar arches with integrated electronic systems installed for the Department of National Defense, for their Rigid Hulled Inflatable Boats (RHIBs). To date, thirty-eight of these units are spread
across Canada. Some were used in the recovery of the Swiss Air disaster off
Peggy's Cove a few years ago, while others were used in East Timor recently.
Santa Claus has even been known to use one at Christmas to tour the Victoria
Inner Harbour!
